Thank you to Almonte Celtic Fest.

There was a land acknowledgment so I've made a donation to this organization.

In honour of Canada Day:
I’ve always found the land acknowledgment at concerts/venues I’m playing, to be a trite. I appreciate it’s a small and positive step forward in the reconciliation process, but for me, it just doesn’t feel like an action. So…
From now on, I will be donating 2% of my earnings of each concert I play on unceded indigenous land. Below, is the first organization I will donate to.

I’m so excited to announce that I was chosen to be a part of FAI’s new Artists in (Their) Residence project! Eliza Gilkyson and I were partnered together and commissioned to co-write a song about the issues raised by the COVID-19 pandemic to raise awareness for The Village Fund, a grant program for folk artists and industry members in need.

About Artists in (Their) Residence

The Artists in (Their) Residence project, presented by Folk Alliance International, matches artists across countries and cultures to speak to the universality of the issues raised by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ten US-based artists were paired with musicians from Australia, Canada, Egypt, Ireland, Israel, Scotland, and Spain to co-write songs about the pandemic experience and raise awareness for The Village Fund, a grant program for artists and industry members in need.

About The Village Fund

The Village Fund is a grant program for folk artists and independent music industry professionals experiencing financial hardship, administered by Folk Alliance International.

The Village Fund’s name is inspired by the rural origins of various folk music traditions, the urban villages that expanded the folk audience, and the recognition that folk music forms one global village of fans, artists, and industry professionals alike.

Initial fundraising for the fund has begun, with all proceeds from the public performance tickets to the Folk Unlocked Virtual Conference Showcases going directly to the fund. FAI has committed $25,000 from its reserve and hopes to raise an additional $75,000 in public support for the fund in order to initially distribute 200 grants of $500.
